Sultanate of Oman Participates in the Meetings of the United Nations Convention against Corruption

The Sultanate of Oman, represented by State Audit Institution, is participating in the 15th session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), the 18th meeting of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on Asset Recovery, and the 13th Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Meeting to Enhance International Cooperation under the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which are held at the United Nations office in Vienna during the period (10-14) of this June.

      The 15th session meeting discusses financial and budgetary matters, and reviews the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). The meeting also discusses exchange of information, practices and experiences gained in implementing the Convention.

      The 18th meeting of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on Asset Recovery discusses a number of topics, most notably good practices and challenges with respect to beneficial ownership information to detect, deter and prevent acts of corruption and to enhance the recovery of assets in accordance with the Convention. The meeting concludes its work by discussing the challenges and measures to prevent and combat corruption and enhance international cooperation, as well as shedding light on illicit financial flows and obstacles in international cooperation.

      The 13th Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Meeting to Enhance International Cooperation under the United Nations Convention against Corruption focuses on the follow-up to the Special Session of the General Assembly on effective communication and cooperation, information sharing, law enforcement cooperation and use of networks.
